Anime Network Premieres “This Ugly Yet Beautiful World”

» News, Industry, Anime | posted by Wai Yung (Wayne) Chim on 07/7/2006 [Discuss]

Anime Network, the first cable channel in North America dedicated to anime, announced that it will begin airing today the first episode of This Ugly Yet Beautiful World, the new anime series from Studio Gainax made to celebrate their 20th anniversary in anime.

This Ugly Yet Beautiful World is a new 12-episode anime series created by the same unit that produced Neon Genesis Evangelion. The show is filled with plenty of fan service, beautiful animation and comedic elements, not to mention giant armored worm-like creatures.

‘Anime Network is proud to be the first channel to broadcast this great show for our VOD subscribers,’ says Stacy Slanina, Director of Programming & Operations. ‘We have a full line-up of new shows coming this summer and fall that will be premiering first on the Anime Network. Stay tuned!’

Anime Network is also broadcasting more new shows in the month of July. Shows to be aired include the playful Kaleido Star New Wings, the hilariously-dubbed Ghost Stories and the action-packed The Slayers Try.
