Synopsis
Shinjuro may be little young to be the master of a swordsmanship school, but fate didn’t give him any choice. Now, his position and martial skills land him right in the middle of serious trouble when the rogue samurai Mikage faces off against the Tokugawa government. Mikage has his eyes on the legendary sword known as Mizuchi, and is willing to destroy all of Edo to get it.
Caught in the middle, Shinjuro and the band of beautiful swordswomen who train at his school must protect the town from harm. However, they won’t really be challenged until the Tokugawa house calls in a favor, and the young swordsman is forced to duel Mikage himself! His opponent will be using the most powerful weapon Japan has ever seen, but if the swordswomen can stop fighting over Shinjuro long enough to cheer him on, then the boy samurai is sure to win.

In my opinion the overall score should be 7, but the Animation kept Samurai Hunt for the Sword up by 1 point
» The Pros
Samurai Hunt for the Sword is an OVA, with nice characters. The action is pretty good at times. Characters are detailed which got me sitting in front of the TV for the 60 minutes of showing time. Comedy scenes are all right, they weren't really very funny. Probably a few Haha and Hehe, but I don't think there'll be a rolling on the floor-laughing situation. This is a Shounen type Anime, so expect a few female characters fighting for Shinjuro. The finale fight was a double feature. Shinjuro fighting Mikage and Shinjuro's father against his old friend.

» The Cons
Too fast, one scene will cut to another in a hurry. Not much character development and story is too simple. Just a kid takes in charge of a Dojo, then meets an enemy and fights him, with a little love added. Extras in the DVD were indeed funny; they were bloopers by the English language crew.

Even if you're a shounen, and comedy fan, stay away from Samurai Hunt for the Sword. It isn't very funny and I say this isn't really a shounen although it's said to be. |

Ok, the story is this. Get a character, show sub characters, and create a little scene then comes a last fight. Not only that, story is fast paced, kind of like rushing through the 60 minute show in two episodes. |

Do yourself a favor and add this title to your collection, the only other series that can probably compete with Berserk is Rurouni Kenshin, OVA's that is. |
